The Neighborhood - West Coast

Play

The Neighbourhood's latest single "West Coast" is about the cool nights of their hometown. It's got that west coast synth and nostalgic hip hop feeling aka that Gorillaz depressed in a good way vibe.

Wale - Love Hate Thing Ft. Sam Dew

New single from Wale's upcoming album The Gifted out June 25th. Real smooth hook and beat reminding us why we got into Wale in the first place. Hopefully his album has other songs on ice like "Love Hate Thing."

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Lil’ Dicky – So Hard

So there was this senior at Richmond when I was freshman who went by the name David Burd by day and Lil Dicky by night. Boozbag, over the top Jewish, funny as fuck and then all of the sudden... he's a rapper. He came out with little shorts that were actually hilarious and usually about penises. Today I found out that he just released a mixtape that he's been working on for 2 years and after watching the first 3 videos from his mixtape my emotions went through a serious triathlon. I was first dying laughing at "Ex-Girlfriend," then pretty self reflective after "Lion King" (I was into Nala too), and finally thoroughly impressed after "The Cypher," where Dicky drops the jokes and shows off serious flow that nobody on Earth knew he possessed. I always had a great time partying with Lil' Dicky in college and I'm real proud that he put in the hours and finished strong, releasing his debut Mixtape "So Hard." Do Lil' Dicky and everyone else at ATC a favor and at least give his Youtube videos a play, promise you'll watch until the end. Grab the mixtape HERE. Like what you hear? Follow my main man Lil' Dicky on FACEBOOK and YOUTUBE. Here's to the next big thing...viewer discretion is advised.

ELECTRO HIP-HOP: Pretty Lights – Around the Block ft. Talib Kweli

I'm a couple days late on this song, but here is Pretty Light's new summertime jam and first single of his upcoming album "A Color Map of the Sun". I can't get over how good this song is PLUS the legendary Talib lays a silky verse on top. In true PL style, the whole album will be available for download on July 2nd.

Kendrick Lamar – Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe (Remix) ft. Jay-Z

I'll admit that it took me a couple listens to warm up to Kendrick's latest, but even if the weird hook voice throws you off, you have to respect his verse. He spits a completely fresh verse on this remix and literally poops on Jay. Sorry HOV, this beat just wasn't made for you.

MIX: Flight Facilities Generation Mixtape: 1992-2002

Looking for a nostalgic walk down 90's hip-hop memory lane? Flight Facilities just released a killer hour-long mix that embodies everything that was good about the golden age of hip-hop. Every song used is a classic and that mixing is very impressive. Download this puppy and drift back to a time when Ice Cube was still badass and Fatboy Slim was just gettin' started. In the transitions they use radio excerpts to remind you what was happening around the world. Track listing after the jump.

LOW KEY HIP HOP: 50 Cent – We Up (ft. Kendrick Lamar & Kidd Kidd)

This isn't In The Club 50 Cent, but you could make a couple babies to this track. Kendrick's verse is on point as usual... but doesn't really fit in my opinion. He's talking about "You fucked over your father when he gave you dick/Should've been a bitch in pajamas," but no sweat Kendrick I don't care if it fits. Again, 50 is definitely not the best in this track or "Major Distribution," but overall he's 2/2 in releases... at least he knows how to recruit solid back-up.

DAT RAP: 50 Cent – Major Distribution feat Snoop Dogg & Young Jeezy

This track released in December, but it's finally available on Itunes. 50 Cent's verse is pretty wack, but Snoop Dogg sounds absolute vintage on this beat. The hook, his verse, it's straight old school and sounds way better than this Snoop Lion garbage he's trying to sell. And Jeezy? I'm not the biggest fan but let's go on this one. "I smoke one OZ staring at the Caddy on the showroom floor" ... "I'm going golfing." Grab this on Itunes: Major Distribution (feat. Snoop Dogg & Young Jeezy) - Single - 50 Cent
